There have been several articles in newspapers and on television shows depicting the use of harsh interrogation tactics in law enforcement and within military interrogations. A recent news article I came accross compared the current interrogation tactics with those of WWII. One of the issues is the current acceptance and use of "harsh" tactics to gather information and intelligence, which is archaic and often unsuccessful to begin with, and even if any information happened to be obtained we would have to question the reliability due to the methods used. As archaic as those methods are, over 60 years ago in WWII some of the interrogators within the German Luftwaffe employed much different tactics...establishing rapport and treating their prisoners fairly and professionally. Eventually they trained U.S. Air Force personnel in these tactics.
